Yiwu Manufacturing Seizes Olympic Business Opportunities

As the Paris Olympics approach, Yiwu, China has become a global focus of attention. Yiwu Trading City sells various Olympic related products, and the price index of sports and entertainment products has been rising for several consecutive weeks. Data shows that in the first two months of this year, the export of sports goods from Yiwu increased by 70.5% year-on-year, and the export value to France increased by 42%.

Yiwu has won market favor with its rich variety of products, high-quality development trends, and complete industrial and supply chains. Yiwu manufacturing has developed from small commodities to a large industry, connecting more than 20 industrial clusters and 2.1 million small and medium-sized enterprises across the country. Through Yiwu, the world has seen the strong strength and development potential of China's manufacturing industry

With less than four months left until the Paris Olympics in July 2024, factories in Yiwu have already been busy.

From January to February this year, Yiwu's exports to France reached 540 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 42%, with exports of sports goods increasing by 70.5%.

As the second most valuable investment sports IP in the world, the Olympics has always been a battleground for various brands, and the French Olympics is no exception.

At the 2024 Paris Olympics, whether it is the production of mascots or the supply of sponsor products, there is no shortage of "Made in China" behind them.

From IP product manufacturing to IP product authorization, as well as the consumption of terminal Olympic IP products, Chinese manufacturing enterprises, listed companies, operators,

and consumers deeply connect every node on the Olympic IP network.

In the peak season of foreign trade in March this year, the online export of sports goods to France increased significantly.

The online export volume of popular products such as tennis uniforms, customized sportswear, training helmets, outdoor sportswear, sports cameras, golf bags, etc. at least quadrupled.

It is interesting that whether it is the World Cup, Olympics, or various elections, as the world's "small commodity capital", the outside world can explore the direction of event development from some segmented foreign trade orders. For example, from the colorful wigs of fans of the World Cup in Japan and South Korea to the cheering horn "Wuwuzula" for the World Cup in South Africa, the IP elements of the World Cup all include the figure of Yiwu small commodities.

As early as 2022, there was a dispute in France over the origin of mascot dolls around "Made in China". In 2022, the Paris Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games announced that the vast majority of mascot dolls will be manufactured by Chinese manufacturers. But the French Association of Ethical Business Owners complained about this, believing that 80% of the mascot dolls were "made in China" and "dealt a blow to the French economy.".

At that time, a spokesperson for the French government bluntly stated that France could not produce 2 million plush toys within a few months.

According to the Paris Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games, the mascot for the Paris Olympics is "Frige", and 80% of the mascot dolls will be outsourced to Chinese manufacturers for manufacturing. According to media reports, the remaining market share is obtained by two French toy manufacturers, but the raw materials and components also come from China, and the French manufacturers complete assembly work in their local factories.

Why choose Made in China? At that time, officials from the French Ministry of Economy revealed that the high cost and insufficient scale of French companies were the main reasons for choosing Chinese manufacturers. Made in China can provide consumers with lower priced equivalent products.

According to previous media reports, the official flagship store of Paris 2024 began selling licensed products for the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics at the end of 2022, including plush toys, T-shirts, and keychains priced at 32 euros.Yiwu Nuoxin is a strong supplier with a super fast supply chain and production response capabilities.
